This week we had the privilege to welcome Carl Wills and Dr. Gary Wills from the UK who shared the Word of GOD and really blessed many as we gathered at the Main Hall and Impact Centre. This is really a season for where God is not going to let anything slip through our fingers as we open our lives for more of GOD. Gatherings were held every night this week and we saw the Power of the Holy Spirit moving in the lives of people like never before.
With such accuracy was the Prophetic Word that it really penetrated the hearts of people and many will not be the same anymore. With God wanting to show us more of His Glory and longing for us to walk into what He has instore for us this week has been one of unlocking that which He has placed within us. Our nation needs God like never before and this is the time for a people of God to rise up and allow His voice to be heard through us as we begin to speak and live the Living Word of Jesus Christ.
We’ve not only seen people experiencing the Holy Spirit but also saw many lives being transformed by the Power of Jesus. This is only the beginning to what is ahead for us for this year and we are going all out in order for God to reveal as much of Himself to us during this time.
Today Impact Direct had the privilege celebrating with the Reconstructed graduates as they’ve successfully completed a year of Social Media training. Not only was it wonderful to see what they’ve achieved in such a short space of time but the atmosphere at the graduation was such a wonderful experience that many would agree that this year has been special and an inspiration to many.
The graduation was opened by the dean of Faculty of Informatics and Design, Prof. Johannes Cronje, who welcomed the graduates, family, friends and colleagues. Apostle Roger Petersen followed with a prayer not only for the graduation but for every young person who needs hope roaming the streets and in our communities in Cape Town. The Reconstructed project then launched two new services namely their first podcast (you can download it right here under multimedia) and the “Angel Service” on MXit. This was followed by Marlon who shared a little about the year that has passed and then the moment we all waited for, THE RECONSTRUCTED GRADUATION.
Every graduate made us all proud, not only the people who were present but surely they are a beacon of hope for every person who needs that light. They are truly products of the Power of JESUS CHRIST and the Holy Spirit. So congratulations to all our graduates: Brent Williams, Clinton Liederman, Craig Ross, Jerome Mias, Michael Abrahams, Ricardo Johnson, Clive-marcus Evertse, Jason Martin, Kyle Jonck, Jerod Aspelling, Monique Theron, Shameez Liederman, Nazier Fortune and Bradley Naidoo.
Also special prizes went to Craig Ross (Best Blogger), Clinton Liederman (Best Micro-blogger), Jerome Mias (Mobile Blogger), Kyle Jonck (Twitster “Twitter Gangster”), Jason Martin (Most Innovative Blogger) and Brent Williams (Drug Advice Support [DAS] Ambassador). Special thanks to all the sponsors Media 24, Springleap, CPUT, Impact Direct and everyone who contributed to this extraordinary year. May GOD bless you as we look forward to the Reconstructed Intake of 2009.
There are times when God shows up beyond what you can imagine and this morning was one of those encounters. As hundreds gathered this morning for the Sunday morning service it was not just a service but a meeting with God our hope of Glory. Praise and Worship was all about lifting up the name of Jesus and allowing the King of Glory to enter into our midst. With such an awesome move of the Holy Spirit throughout the gathering people’s lives were touched and changed as we declared ‘How Great is our GOD’.
Testimonies were also shared by Deon Willy about the 4 young men, living on the streets, who was brought into our gathering 2 weeks ago by Heather Adams. That day would be a momentous moment in their lives as this was the day that they gave their lives to the LORD and accepted Jesus into their hearts. It is incredible to see how GOD is busy transforming lives in our midst by His Power and through His Holy Spirit.
We also had Past. Jim, Sylvia and Derek Holls in our gathering from the UK, Jubilee Church Bromley. Past Jim shared a powerful Word “God my Hope of Glory and the lifter of my head”, a message for everyone who needs hope in the midst of their trials. Sharing the story of David when it seemed asif all was against him. But in the midst of his trials and all that he was going through, he responded with a new song in His heart. He wrote a Psalm (Psalm 3) and through his worship and praise unto the LORD, his life was transformed and changed. The Word of the LORD really reached every one of us in the gathering this morning knowing that we can declare that “God is our Hope of Glory and the lifter of our heads”
Today we’ve had the opportunity to be part of a great moment in our Nation’s history. Leaders and young people from accross the city gathered to be part of The Revolution that God has started in the hearts of people. The gathering was opened with an awesome time of praise and worship followed by an opening address by Earl Erasmus. His address was calling young people to unite and make a declaration to honour and serve their leaders through the cleaning of their hands and the purifying of the hearts.
Many of the senior leaders addressed the young people with Apostle Roger Petersen reminding us that we are a multi-generational people who serves a mulit-generational God. The keynote address was by Dr. Allan Boesak who spoke around Revival and Revolution. That as a generation who has been called by God that we should not give up hope in the midst of our nation’s current state but that we should emerge as youth and bring about a Revoltuion.
Some of the quotes from the address by Dr. Boesak were:
“We stand for standards of excellence so that we can give our best to God so that we can give our best to the nation”
“As a child of God I will stand and not hide away”
“As long as Jesus Christ is alive there is hope for our nation” And Jesus is ALIVE!!!!
“We should speak out against injustice.”
“There are moments in history that you have to grab because they will never come again. This day is a divine encounter”
This Encounter is the start of The Revolution where the youth of our nation is not going to be silenced but will be heard. We will upload some extracts from Dr. Allan Boesak’s address soon so watch this space.
Interview with Venise Smith who nominated Impact Direct as the local hero of the month in Cape Town. This is an initiative managed by one of the large South African banks, Nedbank, and Impact Direct won the award for local hero of the month of October. Here Venise tells us why she believes that Impact Direct is a local hero.
Yesterday we had the privilege of hosting Morning Live at the Impact Centre and what an awesome time it was because Jesus Christ was lifted up throughout the broadcast. The show started with Brent Williams sharing his testimony of how Jesus has set him free from drug addiction. The lovely posters that was on display also got lots of attention and know that 8 – 10 million people heard Jesus being proclaimed as Lord.
Apostle Roger Petersen was also interviewed telling Vuyo and the rest if the South Africa the impact drugs and substance abuse have on families. During his interview when asked if Impact Direct can help people with substance abuse problems? He answered calmy “We tell every person who walks into the Impact Centre that we cant help you”. This response got Vuyo’s attention and I’m sure many people thought what is he saying. But then he told Vuyo and the viewers that only God can help a drug addict. No person, institution, rehab can get a drug addict totally free but Jesus. Definitely a response that will have many people talking accross our nation but its the truth as we see the testimonies daily at the Impact Centre.
Towards the end of the programme Marlon had an opportunity to display the Drug Advice and Support on MXit (DAS@MXit) service which got an overwhelming response of more than 2000 contacts joining the service. The show was closed with testimonies from Clinton, Craig, Monique, Kyle and Brent sharing Jesus Christ with the masses. I’m sure this was a Morning Live show like no other. Jesus was proclaimed at the start of the show and it ended with Jesus being lifted up!!!
I believe that Morning Live and the rest of South Africa has been impacted by the Power of the Holy Spirit that was released over live television.
This morning we having the privilege hosting the cast and crew of the SABC 2 Morning Live show. Many of our volunteers were at the Impact Centre before 4am this morning preparing it for the many guests that will be joining us. Not only are we hosting the SABC crew but the Premier of the Western Cape, Lynne Brown, Deputy Ministrer of Social Development, Dr Jean Swanson-Jacobs and Patrick Mckenzie, Provincial minister of Community Safety.
There is a buzz in the air as Brent Williams, one of our young men who has been reconstructed from drugs and gangs, are opeing the Morning Live show sharing his testimony of how Jesus set him free. Pastor Roger Petersen will also be interviewed by Vuyo and Marlon Parker will demonstrate the use of MXit for substance abuse counselling. We will upload photos and clips soon about this exciting morning and we give the Lord all the praise and honour for this great opportunity to showcase Jesus to almost 10 million viewers.
